Kaizer Chiefs’ Under-19s side beat Porto FC 5-1 last weekend and are now leading the SAB League, Johannesburg Region.

The Amakhosi goals were scored by Nkosingiphile Mdlalose, Khumbalani Ncube, Lebohang Lesako and a brace from Yaseen Bunting.

They have now booked 38 points from 17 games, scoring 45 goals and conceding only eight. The young Glamour Boys are on equal points with Orlando Pirates, but they are on top of the log because of a better goal difference.

There were again some excellent displays from several of the Under-19s players, including the centre-backs, Kefiloe Mojaki and Kai Alpha Liang, and the very skilful 18-year-old attacking midfielder, Lebohang Lesako.

“It’s our ambition to win the league,” Chiefs’ Under-19s coach Sundra Govinder points out, “and therefore qualify for the play-offs to stand a chance to gain promotion to the ABC Motsepe League, which is our ultimate goal.”

Kaizer Chiefs’ Under-19s side will play Gauteng FC at Chiefs Village (KC 2) on Saturday, 3 February (kick-off is at 15:00).
