Kaizer Chiefs supporter, Vuyolwethu Vatsha, experienced the thrill of a lifetime when he drove away in a brand-new Toyota Starlet during the Toyota Cup clash between Amakhosi and Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko. Vatsha was overcome with joy after unlocking the car with the winning key in the fan competition.

The competition, which rewards fans who purchase match tickets for the Toyota Cup, has quickly become a standout feature of the tournament, now in its second edition.

Following last year’s heartwarming inaugural winner, this year’s moment was equally unforgettable. “I do a lot of work with the youth in my community as a social worker,” Vatsha shared. “This car will help me move around and reach more young people.”

Vatsha, who hails from Port Shepstone, expressed his gratitude to Toyota South Africa Motors for the opportunity. “Let me thank Toyota for the vehicle. I always buy mechanical parts at Toyota and now I feel truly rewarded,” he said.

He also reflected on the emotional significance of the moment. “Winning this car takes me back to 10 May, when Chiefs won the Nedbank Cup. I prayed a lot that day, and I did the same today while watching the match.”

The car giveaway took place during the halftime interval, adding to the suspense and excitement in the stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung, described the initiative as a powerful part of enhancing the fan experience. “This competition is about more than just a prize. It’s about giving back to our supporters in a meaningful way,” she said, adding, “Every ticket is a chance not only to witness the game on the field but to become part of something unforgettable.”

Khathochelo Mbanda, Marketing Manager at Toyota South Africa Motors, echoed the sentiment: “Football is about passion and joy, and the Toyota Cup should reflect that. Competitions like this bring an extra layer of excitement to the tournament and that’s what truly matters.”

With a new set of wheels and memories to last a lifetime, Vatsha is living proof that supporting your team can take you places, sometimes quite literally.
