Amakhosi’s youth academy teams recovered well in their SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) encounters against University of Pretoria on Saturday after experiencing a difficult Youth Day series away to Mamelodi Sundowns last Tuesday.

Chiefs travelled to Clapham High School on 16 June to face Masandawana’s junior teams and the day began with a goal-fest, ultimately won 5-4 by the hosts. The U15s recorded a creditable 1-1 draw before the U17s slipped to a 3-0 defeat. The U19s restored a degree of pride with a resounding 4-0 victory in the day’s final game.

Young Amakhosi welcomed University of Pretoria to the Village on Saturday, where the U14s shrugged off their loss a few days earlier with an emphatic 4-1. This was followed by a 3-0 win for the U15s and a 1-0 triumph for the U17s. The U19s were held to a 1-1 draw to close out the day’s fixtures.

The teams will face Sevens Academy away on Saturday, 27 June in the final round of fixtures before breaking for the school holidays and resuming against Rockefvs FC on 25 July.
