We should have won - Solinas

“This was a game we should have won,” reflected coach Giovanni Solinas on the goalless draw against a resilient Maritzburg United on Friday night. “It hurts to drop points when you know you had a good chance to win.”

The Kaizer Chiefs coach feels positive and doesn’t want to ponder too much about the negative. “Things like this happen in football. We did everything we planned, but we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. We have a week before the next game. We have training sessions and we will work a lot on finishing.”

The Italian wants to focus on the process getting back to winning during the coming week. “We play good football and we get close to the box with ease, which means that with a bit of calmness and determination we will get the goals.”

Chiefs have the MTN8 semi-final waiting, facing SuperSport United over two legs. “A cup match is another ball game,” admits Solinas. “Four league games and no win for a big club is not good, even though we beat Free State Stars in the MTN8 quarter-final. I feel confident that we will strike the right chord soon.”

Amakhosi moved to eleventh spot on the league table after Friday evening’s draw with other league fixtures proceeding throughout the weekend.
