As the season nears its end, Kaizer Chiefs will play their 25th league match of the season against SuperSport United in Polokwane this evening. This is Chiefs’ first home game of the season at the New Peter Mokaba stadium, one of our three home venues.

This game takes place on a very special and historic day for South Africa as the country celebrates 30 years of Freedom.

The two teams have not done too well since the start of the year, with Chiefs only winning one game and SuperSport going winless in their last 10 outings.

Amakhosi are 10th on the log after collecting 30 points after 24 matches. The visitors, SuperSport United are 7th with 35 points in the kitty after 24 outings.

With the hope of improving on last weekend’s performance in Durban against Richards Bay, coach Cavin Johnson has opted to not change his starting line up and hopes they will convert the chances they create. The bench is also unchanged.

The Glamour Boys will play their regular 4-3-3 formation.

Bruce Bvuma is the goalkeeper.

At the back S’fiso Hlanti is on the left, with Edmilson Dove and Given Msimango at the centre, and Dillan Solomons is on the right-hand side.

The defensive midfielder is Sibongiseni Mthethwa. He will have Mduduzi Shabalala and Siyethemba Sithebe just ahead of him.

The wingers are Pule Mmodi, who is on the left, and Christian Saile is on the right flank.

Ashley Du Preez will lead Amakhosi’s attack.

The captain is Msimango.

The match officials are referee Sikhumbuzo Gasa, the first assistant referee He Simukele Jali, second assistant Tumi Mohlala and the fourth official Romeo Mathibithi.

The riveting DStv Premiership clash between Amakhosi and Matsatsantsa a Pitoli will start at 17:30 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
