Kaizer Chiefs would like to congratulate former midfielder and Club legend, Doctor Khumalo, on his appointment as vice-chairperson of the South African Football Association’s Technical Committee, which is headed by chairperson Jack Maluleke.

The appointment was confirmed following last Sunday's meeting of SAFA's National Executive Committee in Sandton, Johannesburg. Announcing Khumalo’s appointment, SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan, said, “In our technical committee, we have reappointed Mr Jack Maluleke as the chair and appointed Doctor Khumalo as the vice-chairperson on the SAFA Technical Committee. I spoke to him and he is quite happy to serve in this technical committee of SAFA.”

Khumalo visited Naturena on Wednesday and spent time with Club Chairman, Dr Kaizer Motaung and also had interactions with the Chiefs first team coaching staff and players. Of his new appointment, Khumalo said, “I am grateful to have been added to the SAFA committee and I am hoping to add value via my experience. Thanks to the Chiefs Chairman for hosting me and imparting his wisdom as I take on this new role.”

Dr Motaung was complimentary of Khumalo, adding, “Doctor is very knowledgeable in the game. He will take all that he has developed in a career spanning over many years as a player and coach with him to the SAFA structures. We wish him well and are hoping to have a longer session with him in the next couple of weeks.”

Khumalo made his international debut for Bafana Bafana in 1992, scoring against Cameroon in a 1-0 win. He was also key to South Africa’s 1996 Africa Cup of Nations success. He featured in over 400 games for Chiefs, winning 21 titles in a career with the Club spanning over 15 years.
