June 2017

Amakhosi supporters in Alexandra, North-East of Johannesburg, and Rustenburg in the North West Province can look forward to the opening of brand new Kaizer Chiefs Insurance (KCI) stores in their respective areas this month. The project which is a joint venture between Kaizer Chiefs and long-standing insurance partner and sponsor, Hollard, will involve the establishment of six stores in various parts of South Africa offering insurance-related services and selling exclusively licensed Kaizer Chiefs merchandise at affordable prices.

The store in Alexandra, situated at the newly-opened Alex Mall in London Road (just off the N3 highway), was the first to open its doors on Tuesday, 13 June at 9am. The KCI store in Rustenburg, which is located on Fatima Bhayet Street, Rustenburg CBD will start operating on Friday 23 June.

“The new and exciting initiative offers our followers in South Africa the chance to acquire face-to-face assistance with all KC Insurance products and services, whether they are signing up or making a claim. We will also be selling some of the exclusively licensed merchandise that can only be found at the Kaizer Chiefs stores,” says Amakhosi Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung. “A word of gratitude must go to our longstanding partners, Hollard, for making it possible for us to interact on a personal level with our supporters. We urge supporters to make use of this opportunity by visiting the stores and seeing it for themselves.”

Some of the KC Insurance products on offer include an insurance policy that covers up to 22 family and extended family members at affordable rates.

“Given the economic climate and escalating prices, we felt it was important to help our supporters, and South Africans in general, bury their loved ones with dignity by coming up with innovative yet affordable products and services. Not only that; in these times where gainful employment is hard to come by, we are pleased that we will also be able to make a contribution to job creation in our country,” comments Motaung. “The tremendous support we have received from our loyal fan base at our retail stores at the Village and Tramshed in Pretoria has been inspiring.”

“We are excited to be taking the next phase of our expansion to Alexandra and Rustenburg, where we can be closer to our followers on a more localised level,” addss Motaung. “The stores are unique in that they carry a selection of limited stock and special offers that are unavailable anywhere else.”

Four more outlets, modelled on those in Alexandra and Rustenburg, have been earmarked to open for business in Soweto, Central Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth in the next coming months, with the view of extending the operation to other parts of the country down the line.

The move is part of Chiefs’ retail expansion strategy, aimed at engaging directly with their fans to offer them assistance with their insurance needs, as well as some great deals on merchandise.

“We will have a range of new merchandise in store - from T-shirts, to balls, blankets, hats, scarfs, hoodies as well as Kaizer Chiefs Mobile starter packs, RICA facilities and airtime for sale.  It’s a full Kaizer Chiefs Insurance store experience,” Motaung concluded.

The original Kaizer Chiefs Retail store is located within the club’s headquarters at Naturena and fans are encouraged to visit the store for a unique Amakhosi experience. The second retail store can be found in Pretoria’s Tramshed shopping centre.

Followers of South Africa’s most successful football club who are unable to visit these stores but need products and services will be able to get their hands on a variety of exclusive items that are only available at the club’s official retail stores via www.kcdigistore.com, and the products will be delivered to their doorstep.
